Five Things from the Alachua County Library District

February 2024

February may be the shortest month of the year, but we’re not short on ways for you to participate, connect, and discover this month! Celebrate Black History Month with library programs all month long. Take your child to the library and enjoy Valentine’s Day-themed events. Get help with your taxes this year from professionals, and take your research to the next level with Gale in Context: Biography.

Have you experienced prejudice or discrimination in your life? Connect with a collection of Human Books—people who are willing to discuss openly their accounts of discrimination—at the Human Library event on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Celebrate Black History

Each February, we celebrate Black History Month by recognizing and honoring the outstanding contributions that Black Americans have made to American history and culture. At the Library District, we’re celebrating by promoting Black stories in our collection and related programs.

Try a library program at one of our 12 library locations to celebrate Black history and culture. Join us for African American Read-Ins, a movie matinee, a scavenger hunt, and much more!
